About Safe Sip & Founder Mackenzie Frank
Safe Sip started with something deeply personal.
During my freshman year of college, I became a victim of drink spiking. After that experience, I felt confused, ashamed, and most of all, alone. But as I began opening up about what happened, I quickly learned I wasn't alone at all.
Conversations with other survivors revealed the same story, over and over again: this wasn't a rare, isolated incident. It was a widespread problem happening in social spaces everywhere, to people who had no way to protect themselves.
That realization changed everything for me. What began as my own healing process turned into a mission. I didn't want my experience, or theirs, to just be something we survived. I wanted it to be the reason something changed.
My name is Mackenzie Frank. I'm currently a senior at the University of Delaware, majoring in Entrepreneurship with a minor in Philosophy, and I'm set to graduate in 2027. Entrepreneurship has given me the tools to turn ideas into action, and Philosophy has shaped the way I think about ethics, purpose, and what it truly means to build something impactful. Together, they've strengthened my belief that businesses can — and should — exist to solve real problems and help real people.
Safe Sip is the product of that belief. It's a venture built to give people a real, practical way to protect themselves and their friends in social environments — so no one has to feel the fear, confusion, or isolation I felt.
Along the way, Safe Sip has been recognized as a finalist in the University of Delaware's Hen Hatch pitch competition and by the Delaware Business Times. Each milestone has reinforced what I already knew: this problem matters, and people are ready for a solution.
At its core, Safe Sip isn't just a startup to me — it's advocacy in action. Mission-driven work is what drives me every day, and I'm building this because I believe safety shouldn't be a privilege. It should be something everyone can count on.
